Who this covers
This policy covers hex, a personal assistant that runs on a computer owned by the person using it (the "owner"). hex is run by Mike Rapadas for himself and a small group of friends.
What hex reads from Google
When an owner connects Google, hex asks for these three permissions and no others:
- See your calendars and events (read only). hex does not create, change or delete events through this permission.
- See your contacts (read only). hex does not change your contacts.
- See and manage only the Google Drive files you open with hex or that hex creates for you. hex cannot see the rest of your Drive.
hex never asks for access to your Gmail.
Where your data is kept
Your Google sign-in token and the data hex reads are stored only on the owner's own hex computer. They are not stored on hex.mrap.me or on any server run by Mike Rapadas. Mike cannot see your data.
What is sent to an AI service
When you ask hex a question, it sends the parts of your data it needs to answer to Claude, an AI service made by Anthropic. For example, if you ask about a day with a doctor's visit, that calendar entry is sent to answer you. hex's automatic background jobs skip anything that looks medical, legal, financial, or about your identity or passwords. No other AI company receives your data.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.
- We do not use your Google data to train AI models.
- We do not move your Google data to anyone else, except sending what is needed to Claude to answer your own questions, as above.
hex's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How to disconnect
- In hex: ask the person who set up your hex to disconnect Google. This revokes hex's access at Google and deletes the stored token and the Google data hex keeps.
- In Google: go to https://myaccount.google.com/permissions, choose hex, and select "Remove access". hex then cannot read anything new.
Deleting your data
Your data lives on your own hex computer. To delete it, disconnect Google as above, or ask the person who set up your hex to remove it. Nothing is kept on hex.mrap.me.
